I began using University K9 almost a year ago. I started out with talking to Chris about the training process and shared that my dog can be a little independent and stubborn at times. Chris was very helpful going all my questions, which I often have a lot of. I compared multiple companies and University K9 was the best mix of robust training for the best price I could find.
So last August I sent my Australian Sheppard, Yakul to University K9. I opted to go on vacation while Yakul was with Chris for the training period and upon my return Yakul could do everything his program said it would. I highly recommend this program for anyone who has a dog that is a little too independent at times.
Yakul is so much better on and off leash than he ever was before, has great recall, and rarely reacts to other dogs passing by now. I now have confidence to even take Yakul to public settings that allow for dogs.
One of the best things is that I know Yakul’s training will be reinforced when I have to travel without him. I’m very grateful for University K9 and Chris’ efforts to help train Yakul to be the best dog he can be. One thing I can tell is Yakul has a great time anytime he’s at University K9. When I’ve used other places, he’d come back and would look stressed, but at University K9 he comes back to me his normal happy self.
Another bonus is the location is great, right off the freeway.
Thank you Chris and the staff at University K9 for always taking care of Yakul like one of your own pets.
I am so grateful to Chris and Kylee for their wonderful work with my adopted Shepherd mix, Jax!
When I brought my 9 month old fur baby to University K9, I was feeling desperate! While Jax loved his daily dog park visits, he was started to develop severe leash reactivity, and I spent almost the entire winter alone without being able to have people over, because his fear of people was so severe. He would even start to develop severe anxiety over strange humans at the dog park, feeling the need to approach and nonstop bark at people, especially tall individuals wearing dark clothing or hoodies!
He would also not listen to me AT ALL, making all trips outside of my one bedroom apartment, even potty walks, a nightmare!
Chris was not only confident he could help me with Jax, but he easily dissuaded all of my reservations over the training, and his passion and commitment to his work won me over.
Not only did Jax thrive during his two weeks, but he completely bonded with Chris and when I picked him up, he was like a completely different dog. He was literally prancing with confidence and it was clear that he adores Chris and his other trainer, Kylee!
While Jax (and really every dog) needs consistent reinforcement with me on everything he learned at his Doggy Bootcamp, I now feel like I have a better understanding of Jax, an improved relationship with him, tools within my kit to address behavior at home, AND not only can I now have people over, but I take him with me almost everywhere I go now!
I cannot thank Chris and his team enough for his training. Well worth it, and I tell everyone I know who is seeking a similar solution!
