Health-Conscious Delights at Urth Caffe!
Urth Caffe impressed with its organic, sustainable options and trendy vibe. The menu catered to various dietary needs, and their signature spanish latte was excellent. Service was friendly, if occasionally slow. Prices leaned high, but quality justified the cost. A great spot for health-conscious foodies.
This cafe has a few different locations. My review is based solely on the Pasadena location.
Parking: Parking in the area is not impossible, but can be tough. This is an active street and It can be hard to not only find a spot , but successfully park when there are cars in front of and behind you. The upside is that the parking is free. Also, if you’re eating outdoors you can see the car from your table if you’ve parked on Madison Ave.
Breakfast/Brunch: This location serves breakfast until 1PM on Weekdays and 2PM on Weekends.
Ordering: The line at the restaurant had retractable belt barriers. This created a sense of organization when waiting to place your order. Honestly, the menu is quite confusing. There’s a paper menu inside, a menu on the board above the register and a menu online. All three menus seem to have some different items. For example, I initially ordered pancakes that I saw on the online menu and was told they don’t have pancakes, but they did have waffles. You’ll place an order with the cashier. The cashier then gives you a table number sign that you’ll place at your table of choice. This is done so that the waiter/waitress can find you when bringing your food.
Food and Beverage: Water is self serve indoors from a water dispenser. I am not opposed to this set up, but I do feel it’s inconvenient given the size of the plastic cups provided. It’s even more inconvenient if you’re dining outdoors.
I ordered “ The Salmon Scramble” which consist of three eggs, smoked salmon, bread and a side salad.. This was quite tasty. I also ordered a Belgian waffle. However, they didn’t bring It to out because they said I wasn’t charged for It. That was fine though because the Salmon and eggs were filling enough.
The bacon wasn’t crisp but still tasty. It included a tomato and slice of lettuce. I wasn’t quite sure the purpose. Maybe I could’ve made a BLT if they gave me some bread.
The smoothie was flavorful. The downside is that It comes in a glass. I would’ve preferred It in a plastic cup. This would’ve made It easier to transport and take It to go.
Overall, this restaurant was a good choice. It was a bit crowded, but there’s enough seating for you to dine. This isn’t a restaurant that I would go out of the way to get to. The upside is that they have seven LA locations that are likely to be minutes away.
