I have a kid who skates. The Thousand Oaks location is right by my house, and is the only skate shop within 15 miles. I really wish they were a good place to shop, but they are not.
I went in there today with my 9 yo kid, and told the rep "I don't know anything and I need help picking one.". He pointed to the long boards and said "they are all good. just get what you like", and disappeared into the back of the shop.
We stood there for a few minutes. nobody came back.
The boards are in different shapes. I have already expressed that I don't know how to choose. They each have 1 wheel off, so you can't stand on them. I felt foolish and left. Nobody spoke to us on the way out.
I told my daughter that there are a lot of other gifts coming for her, and she seems OK. But honestly, would I recommend this place? Hard no!
The last board we bought there has the Vals logo on it. I regret that purchase now, because seeing it leaves a bad taste in my mouth.
