Overall it was a pretty good experience. I presented with a blood clot in my leg, very painful and uncomfortable. I was given a prescription for a blood thinner, and when I was discharged and went to the pharmacy, they informed me that they didn't have it in stock, and wouldn't have any until Monday, later in the day. I went to the hospital on a Saturday, so that's quite a long wait for an important medicine. I realize that this is more of a pharmacy issue, but I think the doctor and pharmacy should be better informed. Also, because of the intense pain, I asked what can I do about that, I'm on my feet all day at work, 12 hour shifts. I was prescribed Hydrocodone, 12 tabs, 1 every 6 hours as needed, doesn't last very long. I completely understand the risk with the use of opioids, however, I most certainly am not seeking pain medicine for pleasure, to feed an addiction, or sell them. It is now Monday night, almost 11 pm, and I am in hell right now at work. My leg hurts so much, and I only have 2 pain pills left, and still do not have my blood thinners medicine. I stopped on my way to work, and the shipment hadn't arrived yet. I think 20-30 pain pills would have been much more reasonable.
