Home away from home. What else can I say. Always great people to be around. Monday night cr is my family's favorite. Paster Dan always finds a way to make you laugh on Sundays. I'm happy to take the longer drive to attend here. Rather than anyplace much closer to me.

First let’s start with the actual church. The congregation is in a blacked out auditorium with no windows when they have probably one of the most beautiful scenic locations in all of Spokane. When the congregation starts there is no getting to know anyone or even an opening prayer it is just straight to loud music and flashy lights. It’s so loud my ears were ringing. If you want to go to an isolated church rave filed with different clicks, this is the place for you. If you are just starting your relationship with Jesus the lack of community here will drive you away. I highly recommend going anywhere else

I attended VRL for about six months last year after being away from the church for over 20yrs. If they spent nearly as much time sermonizing about JC's message as they did about recruiting followers, perhaps it would have felt more spiritually satisfying. Ultimately, though, when a non-recruitment sermon did occur, it seemed the messages were some form of doublespeak I was unable to articulate. For example, when it comes to LGBTQ issues, you had the feeling that, while the theme might be "inclusion for all" it actually fell far short of that and I found myself asking "Is Pastor Kelly or Dan saying these people - as human beings - are equal but not? Because it sounds like they are saying we should feel sorry for our friends if they are gay, etc?" I would suggest, to clarify any misconceptions about what VRL's position is on variety of topics, to consult the FAQ's on their website about what they actually believe. Get ready for a ride on the Creationism and List of Sins Train. There is a reason they don't use their plainspeak in the pulpit versus like they do on the website: Most people - new recruits - would be immediately turned off by a message that seems to divide people from one another - religions, lifestyles...its all about the division and outwardly professing sympathy for those for whom you actually feel mirth and scorn. The hand that gestures "Welcome" will keep many at arms length, while the other hand gestures to bring more recruits. Transparency is key in religion. We are One.
