April 24: Decided to try it again boy what a rip off. Greedy greedy greedy people here. Avoid do not come here I know it sounds like a good idea and initially and you want to see all the cool stuff the prices are unbelievable and stupid.
2024:
I would buy way more in here if the prices were way lower.
Pros: -great selection -big Warehouse type store
Cons: -prices are insane -most items have a defect -not willing to knock a few dollars off of dirty products. (Like purses) -not a thrift store. -yoga pants at Walmart $18 brand new, yoga pants at value village $22 with cat hair and piling. -artwork is awesome however I'm not paying $15 for it.
Trying to sell a broken bag for $12 is insanity.
The items were donated to this location, and value village is greedy and makes the prices too expensive for people to even buy.
This post is about Value Village, the Victoria (BC) store. I was there yesterday and was really surprised by the following:
Conclusion: I did eventually find what I was looking for but only after sifting through shelves and racks of overpriced and suspect goods. I saw lots of broken, dirty and damaged items with ridiculous prices. Given the economic downturn we are experiencing, it was not surprising that the store was busy on a rainy Monday afternoon. Value Village is a for-profit US corporation offering a sub-standard shopping experience for customers. It is unclear how much they actually contribute to charity. Even if one does not care about that, there is more 'value' in shopping with and donating to other local thrift stores.
Value Village - you can do (much) better! As a start, try creating a link to 'Contact Us' that actually works.
