This particular store employed deceptive sales tactics, including inflating prices and misrepresenting discounts. Even worse, they refused to accept return in accordance with Verizon's return policy.
On May 11, 2024, I visited the store with the intention of purchasing a new phone to replace my damaged iPhone SE. The salesperson recommended upgrading to the iPhone 15, citing a promotional discount that purportedly made it a cost-effective option. To qualify for this promotion, I was required to purchase specific iPhone accessories along with the phone.
During the transaction, I requested a receipt but was informed by the salesperson that the printer was malfunctioning, and the receipt would be emailed to me. However, despite repeated requests, I did not receive the receipt until the following day.
Upon reviewing the receipt, I discovered significant discrepancies in pricing. The prices of all items, including the phone, accessories, and service fee, were inflated compared to their retail prices. Specifically, I was charged $840 for the iPhone (retail price $799), $46.99 for the Speck Grip iPhone Case (retail price $24.94), $66.99 for the PureGear Screen Protector (retail price $39.99), and $39.99 for the setup fee (Verizon setup fee $29.99). Additionally, a promotional discount of $650 was misrepresented as a Verizon Financed amount, obligating me to pay it back in installments.
Subsequently, on May 14, I attempted to return all purchased items, as they were within the 30-day return window stipulated by Verizon's policy. However, the store manager refused to process the return, contradicting the company's policy. Specifically, I was denied a refund for the inflated charges on the accessories, despite their pristine condition and original packaging.
Sales associate are kind, knowledgeable, and respectful. But highly unethical and too focused on making the sale rather than helping customers with what they need. Used half truths and omitted relevant/necessary info:
I came in to switch my wife from her T-Mobile service to my Verizon account. They were able to help with that and said that due to a recent promotion, we would get a free Samsung tablet. They are technically right because I'm not paying for the device, but they failed to mention that this device has a 5G service that I have to pay for. We never even needed or wanted a tablet and we said this, but they said it was free and so of course we took it. Now I just noticed that I have to pay monthly for the service. Additionally, we were told that we qualified for free 6 months of the Disney Plus, Hulu ,ESPN bundle. The sales associate ask for my phone and started the process of activating that free bundle. It wasn't really explained to me what she was doing, she just handed my phone back to me and told me to put a different email than the email I already use for my Disney Plus account. And told me after the fact that I had to cancel my current Disney Plus account. This is highly inconvenient for me because we have family that share my Disney plus account. So now I have to call Disney Plus and see if the two accounts can be merged or I have to tell all the people using my old account to stop using that one cuz I'm going to cancel it and to start using this new one, and then in 6 months they have to stop using that account and go back to the original. Super inconvenient and all she had to do was inform me what she wanted to do. At which point, I probably would have contacted Disney Plus to let them know what we're trying to do and they would have just given me 6 months off without having to make a new account.
