Great overlook of a cool geologic feature. This massive bar formed during catastrophic megafloods tens of thousands of years ago. Look for the periodic bumps, these are effectively giant ripples like you might see in a small creek—but these were made by floodwaters hundreds of feet deep, flowing at 50+ mph.

The basalt flows towering on either side of the canyon are much older, deposited about 15 million years ago.
