VK Viet Kitchen is one of my favorite Vietnamese restaurants in Tacoma, Washington. The restaurant is conveniently on 38th Street (East of I-5), with plenty of parking on the streets and designated parking around the corners.
The owners (couple), Vincent and Kenny, are fantastic and friendly. The food is delicious! If you're from Portland to Seattle or vice versa, VK VIET KITCHEN is the place. Try their Bon Ne, Pork Blood & organ Congee, BBQ duck noodles, or grilled squid -- all are delicious!
I enjoy their food, but lately, it's hit and missed for us on several dishes. 1). The bread for the Bon Ne burnt, so we had to tell the waiter to toast another one. 2). For the duck noodles, the soup is a bit salty, and the dried bamboo shoot is chewy. They should soak the bamboo shoot in the water a bit longer. I spit half of the bamboo shoot out and couldn't swallow it. The steamed duck and the sweet fish sauce (salad) are perfect. 3). The Bee Loc Lac with steamed rice, rice is uncooked but smells like it was sitting in the pot for a long while. Also saw a piece of napkin in the rice. It's a little thing, but all experienced it. Anyway, so my wife just ate the beef and not the old steamed rice.
This place is literally one of the best and it’s in Tacoma. I’m Vietnamese, been to Vietnam, and all the big US cities with huge Vietnamese communities. The restaurant has surrounding competition but this place is my favorite.
A lot of authentic dishes done very well. Very affordable especially compared to Seattle or the surrounding areas.
Even during busy hours the staff is very attentive, professional, and polite.
The only gripe I have is that they’re closed on Wednesdays. However, everyone needs a day off, so completely understandable.
Highly recommend this place.
