Is the mmiddle-age blonde woman the owner (who sets the culture?) or is she just a poorly trained employee? One can visit a place like this and have a perfectly good experience. Or, like me, they can approach the edge and discover the underbelly.
I went in today to give my Shar Pei a bath and buy supplies for her and my new pup. I also have a bird. I was told that the baths were closed. Oh really I said. When do they close. An hour before closing she replied. What time is it? 4 she said. It wasn't 4 yet. It was 5 til. It wasn't even 4 when I got to my car... and I use the atomic clock.
What difference would it have made if she let me in even if it was already 4 PM, compared to 3:55 - which it actually was. (Her last job must have been at a bar where they set the clocks forward for last call.) She wasn't doing anything in her empty store. I don't think this town is big enough to blow off willing buyers. I objected; said the attitude was unfathomable. Sh turned and replied smugly, I'm sorry you feel that way. It was obvious that she wasn't. She acted like she'd just scored a goal by defeating my desire to give her money.
Note: empty store. The culture of relationship, hospitality and service does not extend beyond this person's perception of her own convenience. If this is an employee, fire her. If this is the owner, don't worry, the problem will take care of itself.
