We planned to have a quick lunch to make up for a bad meal elsewhere a couple nights ago. It wasn’t quick. Best laid plans, you know.
Everything was fresh and delicious.
We splurged a bit and left with a bunch of leftovers.
My main was the sushi and sashimi combo. It included miso soup and salad, and everything was great. Perfect temperature and generous slices. My partner ordered a soft-shell crab roll (a.k.a. Spider roll) and a shrimp tempura roll. I also ordered a pair of unagi nigiri. This was the first time in a long while that they arrived warm. They simply melted in one’s mouth.
Biggest surprise on the menu? In a section titled “Japanese Tapas”, there was a list for lamb chops. I had to get it. They were as good any lollipops I’ve ever had. Perfectly seasoned and grilled. If you like lamb, get them.
My new favorite sushi spot in the East Bay! Fresh sushi and lots of options! For myself as the Uni lover, they have happy spoons with Uni, oysters with Uni, and scallops with Uni! They also have A5 Wagyu and other specials like toro and sushi with caviar on the menu.
You can have the option to order ala carte, nigiri/sashimi omakase set ($36 for 6 pieces or $58 for 10 pieces), or an omakase kaiseki style with assorted starters for $89 with 8 courses. There are of course the usual rolls and main dishes like teriyaki. What I love is that you have a variety to choose from depending on your mood and what you are craving.
The staff is super friendly and attentive! Their owners are really dedicated to making sure you have the best dining experience and try to get to know their customers. We had our water and tea filled multiple times during our dining experience without asking. They do get relatively on the weekend so try to make a reservation if you can. It's quite a popular restaurant. Lots of street parking outside.
Highly recommend you check them out if you haven't already!
