I am pretty disappointed in my experience with Washington Cleaners. I had a bridesmaid dress that simply was too long, it did not require any additional alterations. While I was providing my information for pick up, I inquired about the price. I was quoted roughly $80, which seemed fair for the extent of what needed to be done. Again, the dress only needed about 3-4 inches off the bottom. I had two friends this week need similar alterations, one was $70 and the other paid $110 but also needed the dress brought in on her waist. A few days later, I got a call telling me that the price would actually be $180 because it has two layers and would be "double the work". I don't understand how they didn't know it was two layers when they were pinning up the bottom. I also don't know how twice the amount of work would not be $160 ($80 x 2). Overall, to me this was bad business and I very much felt "bait and switched". If you aren't prepared to quote the dress at drop off, don't, or do better. I kept two stars because they were able to see me without and appointment and their turnaround was fairly quick, however I won't be returning and I would urge you to get pricing in writing.
