I’ve spent the last few years becoming intimately acquainted with the ins and outs of senior living and memory care. In 2020 my father was diagnosed with Lewy Body Dementia, and the last four years navigating dealing with the senior living systems, the ups and downs of caring for someone and organizing care for with dementia have been beyond overwhelming. In these years, I have orchestrated three moves to three different senior living communities, two of those being to the memory care wings of those communities. I have seen first hand all the crazy ups and downs of those communities, and seen what happens to the elderly and infirm when the administration structure just isn’t working out and the decisions come trickling down leaving carers and caregivers and maintenance all scrambling to provide the best care possible in rough circumstances. I was glad that this move of my dad was the last time, as it upset him every time he had to move. (He recently passed away). I was at my wits end with gaps in care, and tired of running into people who seemed to look at my dad with cartoon dollar signs in their eyes. Enter April Ordiway. April made me feel cared for and supported every step of the way. It always felt like she had my dad’s best interests at heart, and that she wanted to make certain he had the best care possible, make sure that I didn’t get burned out dealing with all this, and that she was sure that Westmont could provide the best care for my dad. April is clearly one of the rare, genuine people who believes in what she is doing and wants to help people navigate this madness with every fiber of her being. She provided information on resources on Alzheimer’s and Lewy Body Dementia, and eventually information on hospice care. The facility was lovely and clean, and the residents seemed well cared for. Ultimately we chose a different facility for the reason of proximity to our home while dad was on hospice. Nonetheless, I wanted to give a shoutout to April for her kindness, thoroughness, and care. You couldn’t be in better hands than with April.

I recently had the opportunity visit and treat some of their residents at Westmont of Brentwood and I must say, it exceeded my expectations. The staff starting with the front office, Alex, to the back office were incredibly friendly and attentive, always going above and beyond to ensure the residents were well taken care of. Chef Tony goes the extra mile with his incredible culinary skills, food was amazing. Michael, the executive director is extremely friendly and always happy to see you with a big smile on his face. The facility itself was clean, well-maintained, and had a warm and cozy atmosphere. Overall, I highly recommend Westmont of Brentwood for anyone seeking a caring and comfortable environment for their loved ones.
