Employees are too busy having a flirt off in the front office. I was such an inconvenience to the 3 of them. There is nothing like having a conversation and having some boy in the background rolling his eyes and smirking at you while the girl is pretending to be nice while ripping you off. You can tell they have a lot of practice at doing this to people. They will take advantage of you every chance they get. They will make mistakes and blame you, then refuse to fix them even though fixing them would cost them wouldn't cost them anything. There's a ton of campgrounds and hotels in the area, and each one is far better than this one. Expect to get ripped off at one point if you stay here.

Cons:
- INFESTED WITH WASPS and Moths.
I was chased by wasps the entire time. They were flying in my children’s face and around their heads everywhere we went. River, playground, walking, camping spot. You name it. They need to hire a pest control company and put up significantly more wasp traps. Probably the sticky kind would be best vs the ones with attractant that can attract more.
- The pool was closed for unknown reasons for unknown time.
- It would be nice if they had larger trees for shade. So many RVs and campsites were in the direct Sun and at 99+ degrees everyone was too hot and every camper was having issues staying cool.
- Front desk service didn’t seam to really care that wasps were an issue. “It’s just that time of year” with that attitude and at that rate it’s just going to get worse and worse every year.
- Showers provided one whole minute of hot water and nobody else was showering but me.
Pros
- Nice campground with neat things for kids.
- Nice location
- Winthrop is beautiful.
- Their store is really cute, however it’s heavily overpriced so I didn’t buy anything.

Very dusty, hot campground with little grass and few trees, RV spots are small with zero privacy or space. Staff is very strict about check-in/out. The pool is pretty cloudy but fun for kids. We really enjoyed the free live music. If we return to Winthrop, we’ll definitely stay at the state park.
