This park is absolutely amazing! It is part of the Columbia River Gorge Renaissance Trail. Mount Hood can be seen in the distance behind the Glenn Jackson (I-205) bridge, which on a clear day is just stunning!
Wintler Community Park is a 12.5 acre park with a public sandy beach, where you can spend all day bathing in the sun, or having fun on the river doing a variety of water sports. Lots of ships can be seen on the river since there is a marina along the paved trail from the parking lot.
There are picnic tables, several viewpoint benches throughout, and clean restrooms. I saw no trash or litter of any kind, so please keep this pristine park in the same condition that you will find it in so everyone can enjoy the same experience as you.
This is a great family spot; and yes, that includes your fur baby! 🐕 It is also a romantic spot with restaurants where you can eat and watch all of the action on the river, as well as the sunset.
Birds can be seen everywhere, especially on the water. If it wasn't later in the day, I would have hiked a lot further. No worries, though, because I am definitely coming back with my husband.
There is something for everyone here. You will not leave disappointed. I had a blast, and I highly recommend this park to anyone! I saw people of all ages enjoying this park.
Do consider walking or biking the entire distance, not only for a good workout, but because it apparently connects to other parks, including Fort Vancouver Waterfront Park, Esther Short Park, Marine Park, historic sites with monuments, sculptures and educational exhibits, as well as shops and restaurants in abundance. Like I said: something for everyone! 👍🏼
