I needed help diagnosing a computer issue in my Jetta. I dropped off the nonrunning car, and told them it also had a dead battery. Eventually we found out it was the ECM, so I replaced it and the car worked great. I picked up the car and paid my bill. A couple days later, I looked under the hood and saw that my 9 month old AGM battery was replaced by a 3 year old cheap Walmart battery. I reached out to let them know they put in the wrong battery. They told me they would investigate. The next time I called, they told me that my battery had been stolen off my car while it was in their lot, and they replaced the battery without telling me. Their resolution was that they were partly in the wrong for not telling me they replaced my battery, so they offered to split the cost of a cheaper battery. They never followed through with this offer though and never righted this. I'd like to clarify that they never provided any proof that the battery was stolen, despite having security cameras. They also are completely responsible for any item stolen from my car while it is in their care; I gave them the keys and they obviously did not lock the car. I'm guessing that what really happened is they either left the hood up on the car and charged the battery in easy access for thieves, or they pulled my battery to charge it and forgot which battery they took out and gave me the cheap one. Either way, they had many opportunities to make this right by getting me a replacement battery, but they decided to instead lose my business by doing nothing. Response: they offered to split the cost of a lower quality battery. My battery was a $300 battery, and he directly stated that he was not willing to pay $150 for half of the cost of the replacement battery. He also never offered to buy me a new replacement battery of any kind. If he still wants to make it right, I'm open to any offer for any new replacement battery or a 1 year old AGM battery.
