Purchased 2 mature blueberry plants (3-4 years old) for $40 a piece in October of 2018. They had been pruned recently so I was able to plant them as soon as I arrived home.
I planted them in raised beds with a PH of 5.0 and topped with doug fir sawdust as Brian had instructed. I will say he is very knowledgeable and gave lots of information as well as inviting me back to learn how to prune the following Fall.
I was super excited to have mature plants but my excitement soon turned to stress as neither plant developed buds in the spring of 2019. I will say I had purchased 6 other 2 yr old plants (from Wilco) and they all developed buds that were removed as instructed by the Master gardener program. One of my two plants that were purchased from B&B developed a yellow green foliage in July which turned out to be a fungus which i'm hoping didn't spread to my other blueberries. I finally was advised (Master gardeners) to pull the infected plant before the fungus spread to the others.
I went back to talk to Brian for advice as to why the plants didn't develop buds and about the fungus. He was not very pleased and seemed upset that I had returned. He advised me to wait it out and that the following year I would have more blueberries than I could eat. He said the shock of replanting caused the delay of bud development and that fungus happens to all blueberry fields. Then he told me not to expect a refund which I had never intended. His response just showed an arrogance and lack of customer service that for someone running a business is poor business.
I will never return to B&B nor will I recommend his place of business to others.
Lots of blueberry bushes to choose from. And there was a great variety. Some bushes were picked clean and others were full and a lot in between. I picked 3 lbs today @ $4/lb. The one drawback was when you exit their access road on to NE 219th (SR 502), you have to turn right (west bound) and drive almost a mile before you can turn around and go back east to reach NE 29th Ave. Access from their property directly onto 29th would be really helpful for those who want to go N, E, or S.
