I was so excited to try the famous monte cristo sandwich, but I was disappointed.
We started off with Gumbo as our starters and it was really good, flavorful with a decent amount of spice. Based on that, we were excited about what was to come, but the mains did not measure up. We ordered Battered & Fried Monte Cristo Sandwich and Beef Bourguignon as our entrees. I was so disappointed with the sandwich as all I could taste was oil. No other flavor profile was coming through. I know people raved about it and still do, so maybe it was just the preparation on that particular day. The beef bourguignon had good flavor, but some of the beef felt a little gelatinous in the mouth. For desserts we had Crème Brûlée Tart, at the table, and Assortment of Macarons, to go. Nothing exciting here. I didn't enjoy the tart shell.
Overall, I think it's one and done for me, unless we're with a group and the majority wants to go there.
Had a reservation and it still took 30 minutes to get our seat after our reserved time. Add another 10 minute wait time when the hostess called us up but still didn't seat us. We then had to wait 50 minutes for food. The food wasn't even worth the wait either. The Jambalaya's boiled shrimp was crunchy and dry on the outside, as if it was frozen. The cooks didn't even toss the shrimp in the sauce??? Instead the shrimp was just piled in a corner of the plate. The chicken wasn't seasoned or even seared, grilled, or anything. The sausage was also completely absent from the dish too. Worst of all, the dish was $23 and the three of us in my party all ordered the jambalaya. Yikes.
