This is a short hike with some great views and beautiful riparian habitat. Many large oaks shade the trail as you wind your way through grasslands and near small creeks. Bring a snack and relax at one of several benches and picnic tables in the preserve.
To get here take the Bowman exit from 80 and park at the Lincoln Way Park and Ride. Cross the street and make a sharp right parallel to the street to get onto the narrow trail and descend into the preserve. Soon you will come upon a map and information showing you options including a one mile loop through the preserve.

Great little hike! Perfect for kids and beginners. No doggie station so remember your bags. There are lots of little domestic landmines on this trail. The view is meh and at the beginning of the trail. There's no marker for the entrance at the road. Park at the Bowman Park and Ride at the Bowman exit off I80 and cross the street where there's a dirt path down a switchback parallel to the guard rail. The trail markers don't have arrows so sometimes it's confusing but it's so short that there's no real danger or issue. I would give it 5 stars if it had a sign at the road and arrows on the trail markers.

Big and beautiful preserve that is hidden in plain site. Easy walk from the parking lot to the trails and plenty of open space to enjoy and explore. Bring a picnic and enjoy a beautiful view and a light walk. Just look for the cal fire station with the helicopter and you will find the parking off the exit.
