My job recently moved out of the area to South Lake Union and it makes me sad that Cortina isn't as easily accessible to me for happy hour or after work dinners anymore. I've come here a handful of times now and started to during the pandemic. The first time my coworker and I ordered various items off their happy hour menu: Little Gem Salad, Baby Beets, Burrata, and 3 of the pastas. We were expecting small, tasting sized dishes, but to our surprise they were all full sized pastas! All of them al dente and so flavorful. If I had to pick my least favorite, probably the Strozzapreti. Nothing unappetizing about it and the description sounds delicious but there's a bit of an interesting, fragrant, minty flavor that it leaves behind. Honestly, it's probably just me. I would have to try it again though. They have since increased their prices to now $21/pasta from $15 for happy hour, but it doesn't stop me from coming back. Honestly what's affordable nowadays?
I have also had some items off the dinner menu: Their Grilled Octopus (a lil chewy not the best I've had), Paccheri Nero (no complaints), Chicken Parmesan Sandwich (omg so gooood, and I don't normally like tomato sauces or chicken cutlets. The portion is huge!), and their steak (cooked and seasoned to perfection).
I honestly have no real complaints about this place. It's weird that a previous yelper said there were no pasta dishes available on the dinner menu. Isn't there 7? Lol. He probably only recognized "Ravioli" as the only Italian term for a type of pasta.
I won't mind making the 25 minute trek in the future to come back. One of the better happy hours in downtown!
Looked for a place to eat before our show and was happy to find this place open for happy hour! The happy hour menu was a great way to enjoy the amazing food and atmosphere without breaking the bank—especially during the weekend!
The small bites plates were the perfect pairing with the selected pastas on the menu. I highly recommend the baby beets as the burrata goes well with the hazelnut pesto and beet flavor. The Tonnarelli was a perfect al dente and the Strozzapreti had a great spice to it.
We may not go here beyond this time as the regular price is a little beyond our go to, but I recommend coming in for the happy hour times if you can!
