A hidden gem in Tacoma. I was not prepared the first time I visited. The main area when you first enter is usually full of plants. It's typically where you'll find those harder-to-locate plants as well. Don't let the name fool you. They carry far more than orchids for sale.
On my first visit, I was totally caught off guard by the greenhouse in the back. You can't really see it from the street and, as a result, I had no idea it was there. A member of the staff casually mentioned it to me and I was blown away. There's more plants than you can count and a great variety to choose from.
The staff are always friendly and welcoming. They're helpful and willing to share their knowledge. Prices are fair, imo, and you can pick up some beautiful plants for a bargain in some cases.
Emerald City Orchid is absolutely worth a visit. Check it out. You may be surprised like I was.
I don't typically write a review most of the time, for individual experiences speak for themselves. But for those who haven't been here yet, don't let anything stop you! It's a beautiful interior, with a tiny library and some down to earth people.
I needed to repot my plants before they started to die and was afraid to do it myself. I came here and asked for help, and was helped. It took less then 20 minutes!! Not that the time mattered because I was in a rush, I wasn't. It was reassuring to my anxiety.
(6/22/24) Please forgive me because I've forgotten your name, but who ever you were, you were a great help to me. Neither myself or my plants will forget what you did for us. Thank you for having an open heart.
