I first contacted Katie (Kaitlin Radcliffe) when I saw a home for rent that interested me for my family and I. I emailed her to show my interest, and also gave her a call. We ended up scheduling a tour the day of. Initially, the process took off on a smooth start until we finally met her for the tour. Our assumption was that an agent is hired to guide us, inform us, and negotiate throughout the tour. However, my family and I felt unwelcomed from the start as she lacked proper care for our presence and we ended up touring ourselves.
Fortunately, the home was beautiful enough to sell itself without her guidance and 'expertise'. By the time we finished touring the house ourselves, we initiated the conversation (instead of her initiating) and we began asking questions to find out more about the application process. She answered our questions but never showed any sign of interest, warmth, or professionalism.
Although she lacked the proper accommodation, we were happy with the home and began the application process. This is where it got a lot worse. We finished the applications a couple of days after we toured and emailed all of the documents to her as quickly as possible. We never received an email back from her to confirm she received anything. Katie did not respond to any of my follow up emails afterward, only to end up disqualifying our application almost a week later after meeting with her. However, we do greatly appreciate the consideration, and the minor info she shared with us. My advice to Katie would be to refrain from displaying possible prejudices and assumptions from possible applicants. Also, a little work on efficient communication and professionalism would help applicants feel more welcomed and respected. Thank you
