I am typing this as I am sitting on the tee box of the ninth hole, waiting to finish a round that took way too long to play. I’ve played here quite a lot of times, and the course is getting in better shape over time which is nice. That being said, the pace of play is atrocious. They do nothing to make sure you aren’t waiting 10 minutes at each tee box, and almost every time you come out there’s a long line from the first tee all the way to the ninth tea and it’s insanely backed up.
Today alone I saw two groups of 5 and also a group of 6, no wonder the course is always backed up. I get it’s a local place and everyone is all “buddy buddy” with each other, but if they could just have the worker keep an eye on the pace of play and let the slow groups know to let people pass or to play faster, I think it’d solve the issue.
To make a long story short: skip this course and go to the best one locally, which is Grape Ranch in Palo Cedro.
For those that want to hear about the negative experience(s) my family has had here, keep reading. To set a background of the story, my family and I have been to this course probably about a dozen times total. The first negative experience we had was regarding a contradiction between the coworkers in the morning and the evening. We had called the course around 11AM to ask when the latest we could rent a golf cart, because I was extremely pregnant and had a hard time walking without swelling and pain. The female that spoke to us told us 5:30PM was the latest we could get a cart. We arrived at 5:00, and the female at the counter treated us with a huge amount of disrespect and was very rude, claiming "I would NEVER say that. We are NOT renting you a cart." So we promptly left and took our business elsewhere. They treated us like liars and were appalled that we even requested a cart. We decided after that day we wouldn't give the course our business again. Alas, we decided to give them another shot. We had a couple good runs, but then we had an experience that made us decide that this was definitely not worth the trouble. We decided to bring our child, and he remained bundled up and under our care. When we were finishing up the 3rd hole, the owner, Jimmy, drove to us and told us we could not be on the course with the baby. I had 2 issues with this: firstly, he refused to give us even a partial refund. Secondly, he was so rude and treated us like we were horrible parents for even thinking about bringing my son. This made me tearful and offended, and my family decided that this was the straw that broke the camels back. We are not wasting our time or money here again, and I will discourage anyone from going due to the rudeness of the staff/owner. Please do yourself a favor and go to Grape Ranch (who, by the way, does NOT say anything about babies besides how cute they are). We have never had these issues on a golf course before, and we have taken him to several, not just Grape Ranch and Lake Redding.
Amazing pitch and putt experience.
Greens are luscious and nice, fairways are in wonderful shape.
It’s definitely a rinky dinky place but for the value, laid back experience it is truly a little paradise.
Also… it’s doggo friendly LETS GO!!!
