I grew up hear and have been an outdoor enthusiast all my life. ok just to set the stage, like a lot of people I have bought guns at most places in the Wenatchee valley. And have had both good and not so good experience's. This is one of the not so good one's. And I am willing to take some of the responsibility as I should have been better educated on the type of firearm I was looking to buy. So that I would know what to look for pros and cons. But unfortunately I had the desire to buy a double barrel shotgun in either way I didn't even understand how they worked exactly I just wanted a nice looking functional side by side double barrel shotgun. The one I bought is an older Savage Fox model B 12 gauge, that they led me to believe was in good condition and hard to come by. Not knowing exactly what it was I was getting into at first glance it looked very nice hoping and closed as I thought it should and I made the purchase. I took it out to the range invited a couple of rounds off and was unable to break the shotgun open to remove the spent rounds disappointed I then took it to the gunsmith after a little effort he managed to get the gun open and remove the empties and explain to me that there must be some problems with some of the internal workings that might require quite expensive repair. Unfortunately the gunsmith didn't feel the gun was worth putting that kind of money into and said he was unwilling to work on it. I took the bull by the horns and started studying every resource I could get my hands on to learn all I can learn about what made these work and how to repair them. Once I had the confidence to take the gun apart I discovered that it was in very very mistreated and poor condition, someone had previously disassembled this firearm then put it back together very poorly in the first thing I noticed was it had a broken spring on the caulking lever then the screws that hold the firing pins in place had been ground on with a grinder of some kind for some reason. The top snap retaining screw which holds the lever in place that helps to open the gun haven't been hammered in chipped away at with what appeared to be perhaps a center punch in any case. I also found that it was missing a spring for one of the firing pins. The butt stock had also been cut about 3 in shorter. I mentioned the problems that I was having with the firearm to the store owner and the only thing I got from him was buyer beware they don't stand behind anything they sell and it was all on me to deal with. I didn't expect them to make the repairs or pay for those things I did it however expect them to show some empathy perhaps offer me a trade or at least some consideration. Over the years I have worked with hooked on Toys for instance and when there was an issue with a used firearm that I had purchased from them they would bend over backwards to make it right always impressive. There was a little pawn shop in South Wenatchee some of you may recall valley pawn I work with them over the years as well there was a time that I purchased a firearm from them that was defective and they helped make make it right . Always with a great deal of respect and cooperation. I walked away from Mill pond with a bad taste in my mouth so to speak and quite disappointed. I wish them well they are a young business trying to get off the ground and I always respect hard work ,something missing there such as some people skills and customer service much like I used to get sporting goods counter and save Mart back in the day. I have completely rebuilt The Savage Fox but at a good deal of cost. So my advice to anyone considering purchasing firearms from these folks do your research on the particular item that you're interested in no one understand what it is you're buying because you will be on your own if there is anything not quite right.
