I visited Mt Hood Oregon Resort to dine at Mallard's Cafe & Pub on the evening of 9/5/2024.
After having to track down a server twice and waiting around 15 minutes, we were greeted and placed our orders. The food itself was very good. I went inside to pay as we'd not seen the server again. The total was $69 and I left a $15 tip, regardless of the slow service because it appeared the server was overworked and that's not necessarily her fault. After signing the merchant copy, the server told me the printer jammed and she wasn't able to provide a guest copy. I've previously managed restaurants and bars for over a decade and I know this happens, so I wasn't worried.
The problem came this morning, when I checked my credit card statement and saw that my card had been run for $144 instead of the $84 I agreed to - an increase of $60. As mentioned, with my experience in this industry, I am fairly certain the server turned the 1 on my tip line into a 7 to give herself $75 instead of $15, which would explain why the total was exactly $60 higher than I agreed to.
I've already disputed the additional charge with my bank, but you should be aware of who you're giving your money to if you are considering patronizing Mt Hood Oregon Resort.
