TLDR : DO NOT take your car to Norm Reeves for repairs, since they couldn't figure out the problem until after the warranty expired!
We had transmission issues with our Honda Odyssey van over the past couple of years. We had mentioned it in the past to the Norm Reeves dealership, but they could never figure out what the issue was? (while the van was in Drive at a stop, the van would sometimes not move forward after stepping off the brake and stepping on the accelerator. We would have to put the car in Park, then stop and start the car to get it to drive properly).
Last month we brought the car to Norm Reeves for an unrelated issue, and again mentioned the transmission issue. This time they finally determined that the van needed a new transmission. However, being that so much time had passed since when we first told Norm Reeves about the transmission issue, the normal Honda warranty had since expired. While we did purchase the extended warranty when we purchased the van, the extended warranty is underwritten by a 3rd party, and Honda made us pay a $50 deductible, despite the fact that the transmission issue was brought to Norm Reeves' attention while the van was still under the normal Honda warranty. Had the transmission been fixed when we first brought the issue to their attention, we would not have needed to pay a $50 deductible under the extended warranty.
This is infuriating. It is not our fault that Norm Reeves couldn't figure out the transmission issue in a timely manner. Norm Reeves has even acknowledged that the issue was brought to their attention while the car was under the normal warranty since they can see the issue mentioned in their logs, but would not release the van to us until we paid the $50 deductible! Shady business practices!
