The friendly and knowledgeable docents make this a memorable place to visit. I love that some of the original library shelving is still in place and is being used to display artifacts and high school year books, etc. Loved the RJ Arnold photography exhibit with its explanation of the restoration needed to make new prints from the sometimes corroded metal negstives.
The gift shop is the best ever! Its chock full of ew books mixed with vintage items that must be donated by the community because the prices are so reasonable. How refreshing to find something other than the typical pricey museum gift shop fare. I love that the milk glass dive ornament I bought probably graced the tree of a local resident before I brought it home.
First - Thank You Mr. Carnegie for the Library Building. It was in the past the primary library for Paso Robles, however the hew facility, (it is across from the park in Spring Street) is much much larger. Now lets get back on track. the Historical Society for Paso Robles is simply wonderful. Display of the history of Paso Robles are so well done, and the treasure of books about the history and more and more. If you are a local to the area there is so much to digest, it can be overwhelming. If you are from out of the area it is a nice stop to get a fell for how Paso Robles was. Either way it is an enjoyable stop. also - The book / gift store is small and packed with good history books and simple remembrances of the past. Some good gifts here that you won't find in other places.
