Any family who has the opportunity to get therapy with Jessie or another therapist on her team is SO lucky! What a fun clinic where all the clinicians bring different strengths to helping children.
I value so much of what I learned during my time here and came out a much better therapist because of Jessie’s leadership and mentorship.
I’m Yasmin, a mother of an autistic little boy who is full of energy and can melt your heart with one smile! I had been searching for the best fit for speech therapy for him for nearly a year. I tried a couple of speech therapy practices that came highly recommended, but nothing seemed to work for him. He would either meltdown during the session or in the car as soon as we would arrive.
I was starting to think that maybe my son was too young for speech therapy, and was actually advised by some professionals to put a pause on speech therapy for a bit. Thankfully I found Jessie via her Instagram page and started learning more about how her practice focuses on sensory regulation and offers neurodiversity affirming speech therapy. I was a bit skeptical at first because it’s one thing to create content on the internet and a completely different thing to actually practice what you preach on a day to day basis. I set up an appointment with her and was thankful there was an opening for us and that they accepted our insurance.
Jessie set us up with Ms. Emily Byers, who is my son’s speech therapist. I am constantly in awe of the connection she was able to establish with my son and the growth he has made thanks to her dedication and support of his sensory regulation. She has also educated me as a parent and provided so many resources as I learn more about AAC, sensory regulation and gestalt language processing. She is also patient and kind with my daughter as well, since she too loves learning about her brother’s AAC device. My son’s communication has grown exponentially, with gestures, AAC, and most recently he started calling me “mama”!! 😭
My son is known to be hesitant to enter public spaces, even when they’re places we frequent. This is not the case with “The Playhouse”, as my daughter calls it. Today my son actually leaped out of his chair in the waiting room as soon as he saw Ms. Emily, ran to hug her, and took her hand to lead her into the gym for his session. As a mother, I will never forget that moment and it tells you everything you need to know about this place and the professionals who work there.
There are times on this journey when I feel lonely, but this neurodiversity affirming practice makes both you and your child feel seen and heard. Pediatric Therapy Playhouse is actually a bit of a drive for us since it is about 40 miles from our home, but the care my son has received is worth every mile. 🫶🏽
Thank you SO much Pediatric Therapy Playhouse Team! We love you guys!
