Did a flash delivery last night and was missing an item. No big deal. I put in for a refund. I woke up this morning to find raw chicken on my neighbor's doorstep. I checked the app, and this chicken (which was my missing item) was delivered in a second delivery to my neighbor's door 12 hours ago. No notice, just sitting on the neighbor's doorstep all night. The item has been charged on my receipt and the refund option isn't available on my app anymore.
The app said to call Instacart, they had no information about my order. Now I'm sitting on hold for the last 10 minutes with Safeway customer service in what will surely be another dead end because I have a strong feeling Safeway is going to blame Instacart and Instacart has no record of my delivery. So - I'll be out a $5 tip (never pre-tipping again) and $15 for the chicken. And I'm not spending more than 30 minutes trying to resolve this issue. I've got better things to do than wait on hold all morning because a delivery driver couldn't read the delivery instructions and tried to sneak deliver a missed (spoilable) item. I mean - just message me!

Update - 30 minutes on hold while simultaneously chatting with a customer service rep online.
Customer service rep in chat said they're going to refund the chicken and put in a request to refund the delivery tip. Can't ask for much more of a resolution than that. I'll adjust my star rating.
