I've been shopping at this store for the past 11 years; I mostly go in the evening and although it's true that there generally aren't enough cashiers, I prefer self checkout anyway, I like that you can park underneath the store too and it is generally one of the cleaner Safeways in the area. This evening the person who was at the self checkout couldn't count and decided I had more than 15 items (as it happens I had exactly 15) so I should go stand in the only checkout line that was open (and not moving). I asked to talk to their manager but rather than call the manager they ran away😂. If you really want your employees to count items in peoples carts then maybe you should test to see if they can count to 15 first? The 15 item limit is stupid; if you don't have enough self checkouts, get more... let's face it, you're not going to employ more cashier's and most people prefer self checkout. If you want people to buy less from you this is a great way to accomplish it. Also, dismal customer experience makes me really want to avoid the store in the future.
I'm here because I wanted to report that the review "M" posted below is completely false. The man that was tased is an aggressive constant threat in the store. Not only to customers like myself but the employees alike. I have seen this man physically assault not just the employees but actual customers. He's not just a thief but he's an aggressive man that I always worry about is in the store when I come. I'm extremely proud of the employees for finally taking action after multiple incidents of this gentleman and his aggressive behavior. I will be extremely sad as a faithful long-term paying customer to see if they are punished for protecting us and themselves. They absolutely reasonable with the actions that they had against a threat that is continuously here and always a problem for everyone. Please praise the employees and not punish them. They deserve at least that much.
-A very faithful and thankful customer
