I encountered many issues when attempting to schedule an appointment. I had a referral for urgent treatment of acute eye infections. My doctor called multiple times and sent multiple referrals. Whenever I called to schedule, the receptionists could not find my referrals. They acted so irritated, as if this were my fault. I spent an inordinate amount of time on hold and went longer than I needed to without treatment.
When you are in pain with an acute ocular condition, as well as cancer, it is difficult to make so many phone calls and spend so much time on hold only to be met with a complete lack of compassion or professionalism.
Dr. Goodman is a very skilled clinician. He was very kind however, he was in a huge hurry, as he’s only here for limited hours (I was told) and he had many patients to treat. I was not informed about the amount of pain I would experience during the procedure, which was a same-day, unexpected surgery to drain multiple infections. Had I been informed, I would have taken Ativan or other pain medication prior, as the procedure was incredibly painful and induced a panic attack because I was completely overwhelmed by the pain. There was local anesthesia given, which was not sufficient and I was absolutely traumatized. When I left, I was not given written post operative instructions. This would have been helpful given my condition.
