Id give it more stars if possible. I have been going here for about a year and will not be returning to the commercial gyms. I've been to L.A., Planet Fitness, the old Ballys, 24 hour, Golds, YMCA etc. Waiting for machines, feeling like a zoo animal due to the bright lights and sales floor environment, not wanting to go in when I look grungy because it's such a scene, getting pressured to buy PT sessions/supplements, etc.
Superfit is a horse of a totally different color. Jeff and Linda have at least 20 fully functioning Smith Racks and plenty of barbells/plates. You can squat or bench or do rack pulls at any of those stations. Or use the Smith bar and do those same movements. Same goes for cable machines, there are 6 or 7 fully adjustable cable stacks. Same goes for dumbells, pre weighted straight and ez curl bars, whatever. Multiple racks. He has belts for weighted calisthenics, I don't have to bring my own. Plenty of cardio equipment, well maintained. Row machines, stationary bikes, stair steppers. There is an inversion table for decompressing the spine.
The best part is that it's 24 hour access. You can go train in the middle of the night alone, and when you walk in the lights come on and the music starts for you. This is a neighborhood gym with good vibes and I would definetely check it out. Some days I keep my head down and no one bothers me. Whenever I say hi to the trainers or owners they give me none of the high pressure sales vibes, just actual useful information about training. Every gem that I get from Jeff or Linda goes right into my program and I run it for at least a few months. So far all their advice has been gold and I'm getting much stronger as a result. They don't sell supplements or make it seem like they get a bonus for you buying PT sessions. I will be here one day trying to hit a bench PR and the next day with grandma to do some stretching and cable work. All ages are represented. The culture at this place is respectful and friendly and hardworking. I feel totally comfortable going max effort with some heavy weight, or rehabbing injuries, or just coming and stretching out and going home. Plenty of floor space, can be a little tight at rush times but still more equipment available than I am used to.
