Shamelessly dishonest business practices!
Brought vehicle in to repair a common air conditioner fan issue and was given two vastly different estimates within 3 hours of each other ($750.00 and ultimately $4000.00). I thought the first estimate was a bit high since I had already seen the same repair successfully completed on a YouTube DIY video for less than $200 but was willing to pay that amount ($750) just to get it over with. My dissatisfaction with this business reached a head when the service department staff insisted that the job was so labor intensive that the cost was now going to be $4000 to complete which was entirely unreasonable; the part cost less than$200. So, while my vehicle was at Uptown Ford of Oakland being looked at for 4 hours they found the problem but did not inform me that the problem was actually remedied. Instead, they concocted a story the job would require extensive labor and would cost $4000 and I refused. As I was about to leave, I noticed that the fan air conditioner fan did not turn on when I hit the switch, so I asked why and that is when the lead mechanic went directly to the fan access panel and "VOILA" 30 seconds later the fan works like new.
So, basically what happened here is that they got an easy job decided to fix it quickly while at the same time telling me over the phone that it would require much more effort to see if I would bite on the bait.
Had a terrible experience at this dealership. I went in to test-drive / buy a ford mustang mach-e. While having the payment conversation with my sales rep, another manager named Marcus Ramirez abruptly jumped in and started arguing with me on the availability of non-Tesla charging networks, even when I told him I didn’t want to argue with him. He believed he had the right to jump in just because he was my rep’s “manager”. Basically he spoiled my rep’s sale.
Other than the issue of this extremely incompetent and rude sales manager, I found that the reps had limited knowledge on EVs. I’d have still considered buying from here, as my sales rep was a kind and respectful individual, had it not been for his incompetent manager.
