Horrible intake process, lousy director Greg Thomson. Didn't listen, hear correctly, sympathize and blocked my healing process. Used to think highly of that place in the 90's, not anymore, unfortunately. Never got a trauma counselor after putting in persistent effort. Bad experience and ended up being a complete waste of my time and distraction of my focus, as well as insulted my intelligence and downplayed the seriousness of my situation. Would never recommend again. Added frustration and resentment when I was hopeful and optimistic that I would be met with kindness there.Very much the opposite. I couldn't even get a return call back from a referred counselor. She just went back to G.Thomson instead of speaking directly to me in a brief call, at least. Not a good solution for anyone combating a crisis situation, in my opinion. It left me feeling drained, unappreciated and without any real communication from that place. The receptionist, Daniel, was pleasant. That was it. That was the only nice part.

VYFS is a state sponsored counseling service. They have professional, caring counselors and staff. One might have to be on state assistance in order to engage their services.
We have a valuable resource here. Many of the locals have benefited greatly from their care.
