If you aren’t visiting the pharmacy for a Covid vaccine then forget about being helped. I waited in the drive through for 40 minutes (got stuck, would have bailed after 15) only to have the attendant wait to even acknowledge my presence for 6 minutes and then leave for a long time and come back and say she was waiting for the pharmacist because they were still giving shots. I told her my dr already explained my medication, but because I’ve never taken it I have to have a consult per them. I wait another 5 minutes, the person behind me is now flashing their lights at me. Then she comes back and asks me to come inside instead. Note, I’m not here for like a hair loss rx, I’m here because of a serious hormone deficiency that’s become life threatening and has sent me into a deep depression that I’m fighting my way out of.
I park, find a mask, walk in, and re-explain who I am and what I’m trying to pick up, and they offer no apology, and simply walk away from the counter. I was not rude. I wait another 10 minutes for them to come back and I just see them shuffling around in the back. Finally someone comes to take my payment and then says to get in line for the consult. The pharmacist is helping someone else. Once they leave, she walks away from me to process shots. Another staff member reminds her twice that I’m waiting. I then wait another 15 minutes to be told exactly what my dr already told me.
Lord help me to not have road rage on the way home. An hour to pick up a prescription that’s been ready since yesterday.
Walgreens, please staff your pharmacy better. Please train your staff in phrases like “I’m sorry for the wait” and “thanks for your patience” and “I’m going to step away but I’ll be right back.” Maybe consider that the end all be all of health isn’t just a vaccine but all around healthcare. It’s pretty clear what your priories are and it wasn’t me.
