I would NOT recommend this company. This morning I rolled up my shop door. I didn’t roll it up evenly, so I couldn’t get it down. I called a few local places, and these guys answered the phone. They had someone out in about 3-4 hours, and the girl on the phone reminded me that the estimate was free.
Well, she was wrong about the free estimate because the guy that showed up was not going to leave without me paying him something. He wanted to charge me $400, and said he’d clean the cobwebs too. I told him that was too much to have him close the door and that I’d call someone else. Then he started in on me… “I drove 40 miles to get here” I have no idea why, you can drive from one end of Lodi to another in way less than 40 miles! I called a local company, it’s not my fault he drove from who knows where. His truck had New Jersey license plates.
Then he says “That’s a nice truck you have” I guess if I have a nice truck, I can afford to pay too much for his service. My truck is a 2001 Ford with a savaged title. He had the brand new truck. But none of that should matter.
“I’m going to get lunch after this and it’s going to cost me $50.” Ok, but what does that have to do with me and my ‘free’ estimate? And btw I wasn’t shopping for the best deal. I was going to have it fixed and pay today.
He was a close talker (Seinfeld reference), and would not get out of my personal space, even after I asked him to. He was so close he was actually making me nervous. When I’d back up or move away he was right there with me. I was alone with him and his cheap cologne because when he got here, he made me lock my dogs up.
I told him, since he wasn’t about to leave empty handed, I’d pay him $50 for his trouble and he could go on his merry way. When I said I’d call someone else, he got mad and said he’d fix it for free. He pounded on it with a hammer for a bit, then lowered the door. I thought we were done, and he could go, but no, he wanted that $50 I offered before he left.
BTW, I opened my rollup door too far one other time, and it got stuck. A guy from a company in Galt came and closed it for me. It took the guy 10 minutes, tops. And he didn’t even want to charge me! I had him do some work on a couple of other garage doors, and was able to pay him.
To make a long story longer, the guy today called me when he got to my house, and he called from a Miami Florida number. I didn’t answer because I thought it was a spam call. When I didn’t answer, a lady called from a San Fernando, California number, to let me know he was outside. After that, I got curious and looked up the Lodi address on their website, it’s a boarded up Long John Silvers. Oh, I paid him through Venmo, and he had me send it to Madano Garage Door. So I have no idea who this company is, or where they are from. But it was the guy they sent out that was the problem. He was more interested in how much money he could get from me, than he was in providing a service. And I can still smell his crappy cologne.
